Health & Safety
AUDITS
Our audits will look at the health and safety/food safety aspects of your business. We will conduct a thorough walk round of your premises, reviewing practices and procedures, whilst coaching and advising your team. We will then produce a comprehensive report which will highlight action points and grade them in order of importance. This initial audit will form the basis of how we can help you best going forward. We recommend a half day audit (depending on the size of your venue) at least once a year to ensure your benchmark of excellence is maintained.
HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY
The law says that every business must have a policy for managing health and safety.
RISK ASSESSMENTS
We have an extensive range of industry related risk assessments which can be adjusted for each client to make them site specific or we can write bespoke risk assessments on your behalf.
FIRE RISK ASSESSMENTS (FRA)
It is a legal requirement to have a FRA for your business. We can arrange for our trusted assessor to visit your premises and carry out a suitable FRA. Once this has been completed, the team at Mercury Support will assist you to work through any outstanding action points.
A health and safety policy sets out your general approach to health and safety. It explains how you, as an employer, will manage health and safety in your business. It should clearly say who does what, when and how.
As an employer you are required by law to protect employees and others from harm. The management of health and safety at work regulations 1999 stipulates that the minimum you should do is;
• identify what could cause injury or illness in your business (hazards)
• decide how likely it is that someone could be harmed and how seriously (the risk)
• take action to eliminate the hazard, or if this isn’t possible, control the risk
These are generally in the form of risk assessments.
HEALTH & SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETINGS
We want to be seen as an extension of your team and not just another third party supplier. We would arrange your health and safety committee meetings for you at a venue of your choosing. We would present a realistic overview of the current status of your business from a h&s point of view.
MANAGERS/FOH LOGBOOK
A diary is an excellent way to track corrective actions and is a way senior management can check if tasks are being completed. It can also provide a communication tool for managers on opposite shifts.
